Spaces that hold their silence.
An architecture and interior design studio working between the considered and the quietly bold — homes, cultural spaces and interiors across Europe.

01 — Studio ethos
We design in the belief that a room should feel inevitable — as though it could not have been any other way. Light, proportion and material are our only real tools; everything else is restraint.

What we do
From first sketch to final fitting, we take on a small number of projects each year — enough to give every one the attention it needs, and no more.
01
Architecture
New-build and renovation, from private homes to cultural and civic spaces — considered from the plan down to the last detail.
02
Interior Design
Interiors conceived as one continuous idea — material, joinery, light and furniture drawn together into a single, calm whole.
03
Spatial Strategy
Early-stage feasibility, massing and planning studies that test what a site can become before a single line is committed.
04
Art Direction
Curation of finishes, objects and commissioned pieces — the final layer that makes a space feel lived-in rather than staged.
02 — Project in focus
Coastal House — exterior, west elevation
A house that steps quietly down to the sea.
Set into a shallow dune, the house is arranged as three low volumes that follow the fall of the land toward the water. Lime plaster, pale oak and blackened steel keep the palette close to the coast, while deep reveals frame the horizon like a series of held breaths.

03 — How we work
Four stages, one continuous conversation.
Listen
We start slowly — understanding how you live, what a space needs to do, and the feeling you're really after.
Concept
Sketches, models and material studies test the core idea until the shape of the project becomes clear.
Develop
Drawings are resolved down to every junction and detail, in close dialogue with makers and engineers..
Deliver
We stay on site through construction, protecting the idea all the way to the final handover.

04 — The studio
A small practice, by design.
Studio Marne was founded in 2009 by Elena Marne after a decade in practice across London and Copenhagen, on a simple conviction: that good architecture comes from paying close attention, and attention doesn’t scale.
We remain deliberately small — a team of eight — so that a director is on every project from first meeting to final walk-through. We’d rather do a few things properly than many things quickly.

Domus
"They listened for months before they drew a thing — and the house is exactly the one we didn't know how to ask for."
— Private client, Coastal House
Let's begin a conversation.
We take on a limited number of projects each year. If you have something in mind, we’d love to hear about it — early is never too early.
